I don’t see the point of writing a long-winded preview of the 2008 college football season when you can go to Books-A-Million or Barnes and Noble to find 300+ pages of amazing writing from, say, Phil Steele, all for less than $10.
So I want to keep things as short as possible while still providing my opinion on the final conference standings, bowl matchups and ultimately the BCS title game next January in Miami.
The result: Haikus for every team, every conference, every bowl matchup Division I-A has to offer this year. First up was the “best” conference in the land, the SEC, which you can read here. Next up is my favorite conference, the Big XII. Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

Will win at least nine

4. Colorado Buffaloes
Hawkins duo can win
Nine straight weeks of tough games
Contenders next year
5. Kansas State Wildcats
Freeman will flourish
Rough conference schedule
No December game
6. Iowa State Cyclones
Will always play hard
But talent not up to par
Hired the wrong head coach

1. Oklahoma Sooners
Young back seven
Hardest games in Norman
Air game is country’s best
2. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Would be pick to win
If Sooner game was at home
Will lose two at most
3. Texas Longhorns
Colt must cut picks down
Line must help new backs get yards
Too many musts to win
4. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Make or break for Mike
Season rests on Zac’s right arm
Touch and go for bowl
5. Texas A&M Aggies
McGee must step up
Sherman will not be patient
